Water Features

A water feature in any garden adds another dimension  to it. Whether it be a formal style or a more natural looking feature there is no denying (in my mind anyway) that the addition of water in any form adds a feeling of peacefulness to a garden.

The combination of light reflection and the colours of fish and water lilies in a pond makes for a very nice place to sit and relax within a garden.

Some things to consider when planning to build a pond are where in the garden you want to place it and how what you are wanting to put in your pond will decide this.

 So when selecting a site take into consideration whether you are wanting to have fish or water lilies, and what style of pond formal or natural depending on the overall style of your garden and house.

 Also consider access to the area for ease of getting materials in and out when constructing the pond and for future maintenance. Time spent planning ahead before you start digging is well worth it. 

Selecting the right materials for the job such as pumps and filters, and you will also be lining the pond so you will want a quality liner if you are building the pond to last.
